If you want to skip (or avoid) Black Friday, buying local from McKinney small businesses during this 1-day annual event nestled between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is a great alternative. And a great way to support the local economy.
McKinney’s historic downtown is tailor-made for such an event with over 100 unique shopping destinations. Small business gems like Cadence Cyclery, Patina Green, Stonewood Creators, and dozens of other antique, apparel, health and beauty, and specialty shops.
If you haven’t made it to downtown lately, you’re in for a treat. McKinney does a wonderful job decorating the square for the holidays — dressing things up with lights, garland, and banners — making this the biggest festival of the year, showcasing what downtown McKinney shops have to offer.
This year’s event will feature more than just great shopping. Saturday, the 30th, will also be the 2nd and final day of McKinney’s premier Christmas celebration, Home for the Holidays. Let’s just call it a Yuletide block-party in an historic setting, with food, family, fun, and shopping.
Besides, after your turkey and pumpkin-pie hangover, a little stroll downtown will give you a head-start on that New Years weight-loss resolution you’ll be making.
