In other towns movies and shopping means going to a giant cineplex, overpaying for tickets and popcorn and then heading over to the mall.

The Big Lebowski
Darkness warshed over the Dude – darker’n a black steer’s tookus on a moonless prairie night. There was no bottom.
Yup, you can join your friends in downtown McKinney to watch The Big Lebowski Friday night. The MPAC hosts a classic film series called Friday Night Flicks and this week you get to see the Dude.
Concessions and a cash bar are provided by Munzee Marketplace and Mom and Popcorn. (I told you it’s better than the cineplex – which sounds so very 80’s it reminds me to suggest Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure for the line up.)

If an R rated movie isn’t right for your crowd, head over to Randles Park for Big Hero 6 on Friday night at 7:30. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and pack a picnic dinner to enjoy movie under the sky. This movie is FREE to the public.

Shop in McKinney This Weekend
This is the weekend to shop like a maniac in McKinney, TX.
Heard Museum Native Plant Sale
First up you’ve got the annual Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary Plant Sale. The Heard does an amazing job fulfilling their mission of bringing people and nature together, and right smack in the DFW Metroplex no less. This plant sale benefits the Heard’s mission and everything you buy is tax free.
With our drought like conditions in recent years, planting native plants is more important than ever. You will find a wide variety of plants and herbs that do well in our dry conditions. You can also pick up some milkweed to attract monarch butterflies to your yard.
The sale runs 9-5 on Saturday and 1-5 on Sunday and is open to the public. If you are a member, you get to shop early on Friday from 4-7.
And of course, this is the third Saturday, so you’ve got some great spots to hit for vintage, flea market and crafty finds.
Flea Market Madness
Third Monday Trade Days, Fringe The Event, and The Old Red Lumberyard Junk Market are all going on this weekend. Get your shop on!

Shred in McKinney This Weekend
As far as I know, there is no snowboarding happening here this weekend, but shredding is happening. The 2015 McKinney Shred Event is your chance to clear out all that unnecessary paperwork once and for all. Head over to McKinney High between 9 and 1 on Saturday, and Data Shredding Services will handle the paperwork for ya!
There are some limits and rules about what you can shred, so be sure to glance through them before you head over there.
